Hola. It’s Monday at about 3 pm. I’m a little tired from a terrible night’s sleep, but I feel really good otherwise. Today is the 2nd of two cleanse days. For those of you that are keeping score, I started with one “precleanse” day on Saturday where I just had a shake for breakfast, a regular lunch (not McDonald’s, of course) and a shake for dinner. Then, yesterday was my first cleanse day using the Isagenix Cleanse. You drink 4 oz. of the cleanse 4 times a day.
So, I really blew it in a couple of ways. The first thing I did was just order the Isagenix 9-Day Cleanse. Frankly, it was all I could afford at the time. Had I known then what I know now, I would have either gotten the 30 Day Cleanse Pak, or the Shake and Cleanse pak. Both of those come with so much more “supporting” product for the cleanse. It’s not easy to just drink a cleanse solution for an entire day, never mind two. They have a very specific schedule that you should follow with these Amino Acid enriched chocolate “Isa Delights”, their “Want more energy” drink powder, and “Snacks!”, which are these chocolate wafers. I had no “want more energy?” and no “Isa Delights”. The Isa Delights are really cool…if you melt them in your mouth, the Amino Acids go right to the brain receptors that tell your body you’re hungry…and you aren’t hungry anymore. So, when you follow the schedule they prescribe, you feel good on your cleanse day. Instead, I took my 2nd 4 oz. of the day, then went and played drums for 3 hours. It was 6 hours between any kind of food intake for me, and I completely bonked. I got a terrible headache that persisted almost all night. I felt better when I got home, had a couple almonds, some more cleanse (it’s got tons of nutrients so your body is satiated), and some Want More Energy? drink.
I watched a little TV and went to bed, but my head was starting to pound again. I had really messed up. I tossed and turned, and at about 4 AM, I couldn’t take it anymore. I ate a handful of almonds, a bit of banana, and 4 Ibuprofen. I slept soundly after that until about 8:30…and felt actually really good in the morning, save for my tired eyes.
Today I went to a meeting with Kenyon, then went to the gym for a quick workout. They tell you it’s good to do about 20 minutes of exercise. So, I hit the weight room for some light weights, and hit a little racquetball. But that’s not the good part. When I got to the gym, I jumped on the scale (The same one I weighed myself on last Thursday at 172lbs) and was down to 166lbs!!! I lost 6 lbs in my first 3 days! I was pretty shocked, and very happy with that result. I might even get down into the 150′s by the end of the 9 days…a number I haven’t seen since my mid-20′s!
Tomorrow I’ll have “real” food for the first time since Saturday. That first breakfast shake is going to be the best thing I’ve ever eaten, I’m sure. :)
This is definitely not an easy process..but an effective one, surely. I’m excited to see what the rest of the week will bring, in terms of energy and fitness. If you have a few lbs. to lose, this is a great way to start a routine of eating better and ultimately, feeling better.
Until tomorrow…
